Archive of HFF Munich

article_title

The University Archive collects every variety of document dealing with film or television – with the exception of books – i.e. writings, photographs, posters, advertising, etc. The core of the collection is our newspaper clipping archive, containing documents dating back to 1896.
One of the archive’s prime concerns is to create a thorough record of film and television history in Germany and, for obvious reasons, of the bordering German-speaking countries.
Special focus lies on Southern German film history. The archive was built on the old collections of the Munich film industry. Eastern European cinematic art is also extensively documented.
The archive is a main port of call for German and international writers specialized in film and television history. Portions of the collection are frequently lent for exhibitions, as well as for publication.
