
Gila Sommerrock
...studied law at Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich, specializing in international, European, and foreign private and procedural law. After successfully completing her legal clerkship in various positions, she worked as a consultant at the Goethe-Institut e.V. from 2016 to 2018, dealing with contract, procurement, status, association, subsidy, and non-profit law, before moving to the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts. Until 2023, she dealt with a wide range of topics in the fields of art and culture as well as law and higher education. Her responsibilities included the Haus der Kunst (House of Art) as well as the Cultural Fund, funding opportunities in the field of fine arts, and non-state museums. Her area of responsibility also included the legal review of study and examination regulations at non-state universities and general examination law. She was also responsible for the Bavarian Science Forum. In addition, she prepared the KMK's higher education committee meetings for the departmental management at the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts and coordinated interdepartmental inquiries and issues of fundamental importance.
Since November 2023, Gila Sommerrock has been working as a consultant for overarching university-specific legal issues at art colleges in Bavaria as part of her field service for the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts; the position is a so-called joint office of the Bavarian art colleges and is based at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In this role, Gila Sommerrock has been in close contact with the management teams of all six Bavarian art colleges and the Bavarian Art College Association.
