Vastria explores the biodiversity of the Gulf of Kalloni on the Greek island of Lesvos, a renowned stopover for migratory birds on their journey to Europe, alongside the construction of a high-security detention facility deep within the island’s largest pine forest. Designed to detain migrants arriving on Lesvos, the facility has already become a threat to nature and to the people living and working nearby. The film asks what consequences it will have for those held there once it begins operating.
